It’s Spring again at Spring Cottage

After a unique and exhilarating Christmas trekking round the Himalayas we’ve returned to Spring Cottage to find the first promise of the year ahead with the helibores, primroses and early spring bulbs brightening the frosty winter mornings and the Daphnes, Magnolias and Wimnter Box reminding us of the landscape we saw in Nepal.  Now that we are re invigorated by our holiday, Chris has been busy redecorating the guest rooms and planning improvements to 300 year old Spring Cottage.  Being a listed building means applying for consent from the council before doing anything!

Further afield, 2012 promises to be an exciting year across Cornwall as a whole, not just at Spring Cottage. Numerous events and celebrations from various Cornish saints days, including St Piran, a variety of fine food and horticultural festivals have been planned through out the year in addition to events to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

Great trip to Nepal, but always nice to get back to Spring Cottage :-)

Cracking eggs

Since the recent demise of the Spring Cottage hens, (R.I.P Mabel, Hatty and Maud) we have discovered a little free range egg producer in our own village.  ”Cracking Eggs of Probus” have better fox control than we have with a fence wired to the mains Colditz style.  The chickens are free to roam the lush field and lay great eggs with bright orange yokes.  Food miles to Spring Cottage?  Half a mile :-)
